Although growing up in the 1950's and 60's in the United States may seem idyllic to many, back then everyone did not find life so wonderful. Young Jimmy Russel and his brother were born into a life of poverty in Nashville, Tennessee, and were initially raised by three women of different generations. The boys' lives took a sharp turn when their mother married a much older man who hauled his new wife and her sons out of Nashville to live in Kingston Springs, a small rural community in Middle Tennessee. THOSE BOYS is a sometimes charming and sometimes heartbreaking true story of the adventures and misadventures of young Jimmy as seen through his own eyes.
L. E. Saunders has lived most of his life in Middle Tennessee. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loves spending time enjoying the outdoors.
At various times in his life, he has been a ward of the state of Tennessee, a page in the Tennessee House of Representatives, a stable boy on the harness horse circuit, an Army paratrooper, a stonemason, an English teacher, and a high school principal.
He has always loved writing and telling stories. His favorite activity is spending time with his kids and grandchildren.
